What is vigamox?

Vigamox is a prescription eye drop medication that is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye. It contains the active ingredient moxifloxacin, which belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics.

Vigamox works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication and stopping the growth and spread of bacteria that cause eye infections. It is typically used for a period of 7 days, with 1 or 2 drops administered into the affected eye(s) up to 4 times per day.

While generally well-tolerated by most patients, Vigamox may cause side effects such as blurred vision, eye discomfort, itching, increased sensitivity to light, and redness or swelling of the eyelid. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics should not use Vigamox.

It is important to use Vigamox as directed by a healthcare professional to ensure proper treatment of the infection and to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance. If symptoms do not improve or worsen during treatment, patients should contact their healthcare provider for further evaluation.
