What is trake?

Trachea, commonly called the windpipe, is a tube-like structure that connects the larynx (voice box) to the lungs. It is made up of rings of cartilage and muscles, and its inner lining is lined with cilia that help to remove debris and mucus. The trachea is a vital part of the respiratory system as it allows air to flow between the lungs and the outside environment. In some medical conditions, a tracheostomy may be performed to create an opening in the trachea to allow for easier breathing, or a tracheal intubation may be necessary to deliver oxygen to a patient’s lungs. Disorders of the trachea can include blockages, inflammation, and tumors.
