What is spectravideo?

Spectravideo is a former American computer company that was founded in 1981 and was headquartered in California. The company was one of the leading manufacturers of video game consoles and personal computers during the 1980s and early 1990s. Spectravideo also produced computer peripherals, such as joysticks, game pads, and floppy disk drives.

The company's most well-known products were the Spectravideo SV-318 and SV-328, which were both popular personal computers in the 1980s. The SV-328 was notable for having a built-in 3.5 inch floppy disk drive, which was a rare feature at the time.

Spectravideo also produced a number of video game consoles, including the Spectravideo CompuMate, a console that was designed to be plugged into a regular television set and used as a computer. The company also produced the Spectravideo QuickShot and QuickShot II, two popular joystick controllers that were widely used by gamers during the 1980s.

In 1986, Spectravideo merged with another computer company, Asher Computing, and the combined company was renamed to the QuickShot Corporation. The company continued to produce computer peripherals and video game consoles under the QuickShot brand until it merged with another company, Suncom Technologies, in 1994.
