What is pae?

PAE stands for Physical Address Extension. It refers to a technology used in computer processors to allow them to access more memory than they would otherwise be able to. Specifically, PAE allows processors to access up to 64GB of memory, rather than the 4GB limit imposed by the 32-bit architecture of most older CPUs. PAE is not needed on newer 64-bit processors, which can already access much larger amounts of memory. However, PAE can be useful on older systems that need to run multiple memory-intensive applications simultaneously. PAE is supported by many operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD.
