What is megametre?

A megametre is a unit of measurement used in the metric system to express distance or length. One megametre is equal to one million metres, or 1,000 kilometers. It is abbreviated as Mm and is typically used to measure distances that are too large for ordinary metric units like meters or kilometers.

Some common uses of the megametre include measuring the distance between planets, stars, and galaxies. It is also used to describe the size of large structures, such as bridges, towers, and skyscrapers.

To put the megametre in perspective, the distance between the Earth and Moon is approximately 384,000 kilometers or 0.384 megametres, while the distance between the Earth and the Sun is approximately 149.6 million kilometers or 149.6 megametres. The longest bridge in the world, the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge in China, spans 102.4 miles or 165 kilometers, which is approximately 0.165 megametres.
