What is konk?

Konk is a musical duo known for their unique blend of funk, post-punk, and world music. The group consists of brothers Chris and George Conrad, who formed Konk in New York City in the late 1970s. Their early music was heavily influenced by the downtown art scene, and they were regulars at legendary clubs like CBGB and Danceteria. Konk released their first album, The Sound of Konk, in 1981, which featured the underground hit "Konk Party." They went on to release a few more albums throughout the 1980s, including collaboration with New York DJ legend Arthur Baker. Although Konk never became mainstream stars, their music has had a lasting impact on dance and electronic music, and their songs have been covered and sampled by artists like LCD Soundsystem, The Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk.
