What is igazu?

Iguazu (also known as Iguassu or Iguaçu) is the name of a large waterfall system located on the border between Brazil and Argentina. The falls are one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America, and are known for their beauty, power, and sheer size. The system consists of over 275 individual falls and spans a distance of nearly 2.7 kilometers. The largest and most famous of the waterfalls is known as Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat) and is situated on the Argentinian side of the border. The falls are protected by a national park on both the Brazilian and Argentinian side, and are home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including many rare and endangered species. Visitors can take tours of the falls from both sides of the border, and there are also several hiking trails and other activities available in the surrounding area.
