What is heterosexual?

Heterosexual is a term used to describe individuals who are romantically and sexually attracted to members of the opposite sex. It is also referred to as straight orientation. Heterosexuality is the most commonly observed sexual orientation and is typically considered the societal norm in many cultures. It is an inherent trait that is not chosen by an individual and is generally formed during adolescence. Heterosexuality is often represented by traditional gender roles, such as men being attracted to women and vice versa.
