What is halve?

Halving refers to an event or process in which the reward for mining new blocks of a particular cryptocurrency is reduced by half. This means that miners receive only half of the rewards they previously earned for validating new transactions on the blockchain. Halving is a fundamental feature of many cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash, and is designed to ensure the scarcity and limited supply of these digital assets over time. The Bitcoin halving happens every 210,000 blocks, which takes approximately four years. The most recent Bitcoin halving took place in May 2020.
