What is gisha?

Gisha is a non-governmental organization based in Israel that advocates for the free movement of people and goods in and out of Gaza. The name of the organization, "Gisha" in Hebrew, means "access" in English. Gisha was founded in 2005 and has since been working to promote the rights of Palestinians living in Gaza, who have been living under an ongoing blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt since 2007. The organization's work focuses on three main areas: freedom of movement, access to education and employment, and the right to a livelihood. Gisha provides legal assistance, conducts research and advocacy work, and engages in public outreach to raise awareness about the human rights situation in Gaza. The organization works closely with Palestinian, Israeli, and international partners to promote a more just and equitable future for all residents of Gaza.
