What is erlikosaurus?

Erlikosaurus is a genus of therizinosaur dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 90 million years ago. It was discovered in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia and was named after the mythical creature Erlik, a god of death in Mongolian mythology.

Erlikosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur with a long neck, large claws, and a beak-like mouth that it used to strip leaves from plants. It measured around 6 meters (20 feet) in length and weighed up to 1 ton. It is believed to have been a relatively slow-moving dinosaur that relied on its size and powerful claws for defense against predators.

Erlikosaurus is an important find for paleontologists as it helps to shed light on the evolution of therizinosaur dinosaurs and their unique adaptations. It is also one of the few therizinosaurs known from the Gobi Desert region, which has provided many important fossil discoveries.
