What is chácaras?

Chácaras are typically large pieces of rural land, often used for agricultural purposes such as farming or animal husbandry. In Brazil, chácaras may also be used as vacation homes or recreational properties for city-dwellers seeking a retreat from urban living. These properties can range in size from a few hectares to dozens or even hundreds.

Chácaras may feature a variety of buildings and amenities depending on their specific use, such as barns, stables, workshops, or swimming pools. They may also have separate living quarters for the owner and workers or tenants.

While primarily associated with rural living, chácaras are increasingly being used for eco-tourism and sustainable development projects. In some cases, they may even be subdivided into smaller plots and sold to individuals seeking to own a piece of Brazil's countryside.
