What is bexsero?

Bexsero is a vaccine used to protect against meningitis B, a type of bacterial meningitis that is caused by the bacteria Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B. It is approved for use in individuals aged 2 months and older. The vaccine contains four antigens (proteins) that stimulate an immune response against the meningococcal B bacteria. Bexsero is administered in a series of two or three doses depending on the age of the individual, with doses typically given at least one month apart. Common side effects of Bexsero include injection site pain, redness, and swelling, as well as fever, headache, and muscle aches. Bexsero is considered safe and effective in protecting against meningitis B, and is recommended for individuals at increased risk of exposure or complications from the disease.
