What is abab?

ABAB is a rhyme scheme used in poetry. It refers to a pattern of rhyming sounds at the end of each line of a poem. In an ABAB rhyme scheme, the first and third lines of a stanza rhyme with each other, and the second and fourth lines rhyme with each other. For example:

Roses are red (A) Violets are blue (B) Sugar is sweet (A) And so are you (B)

The ABAB rhyme scheme is commonly used in sonnets and ballads, but can be found in a variety of other poem forms as well. It is a popular choice because it provides structure and musicality to a poem, making it more memorable and enjoyable to read.
