What is hinterrhein?

Hinterrhein is a municipality in the district of Hinterrhein in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is located in the valley of the Hinterrhein river, which runs from the Oberalp Pass to the town of Reichenau where it joins the Vorderrhein river to form the Rhine.

Hinterrhein has a population of around 100 people and covers an area of 61.5 square kilometers. The village is situated at an altitude of 1636 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the stunning Swiss Alps.
