What is farinheiras?

Farinheiras are traditional Portuguese containers used to store flour. They are typically made of clay or ceramic and have a lid to keep the flour fresh and protected from dampness and insects. The word "farinha" in Portuguese means flour, and "farinheira" refers to anything related to flour.

Farinheiras come in different sizes and shapes, with some having handles for easy transportation. They are commonly found in the northern part of Portugal, where flour is a staple ingredient in many traditional dishes.

In addition to its practical use, farinheiras serve as decorative elements in the kitchen and are often handed down from generation to generation as family heirlooms. Nowadays, they are also sold as souvenirs to tourists visiting Portugal.
