What is boykos?

Boykos are a Ukrainian ethnic group who live in the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine. They have their own distinct dialect, which is considered a sub-dialect of the Ukrainian language. Historically, they were primarily shepherds and farmers, and their traditional way of life was closely tied to the land and nature. Boykos have a rich folk culture, which includes music, dancing, embroidery, and wooden architecture. In recent decades, many Boykos have migrated to cities and other regions for work, but they remain proud of their cultural heritage and traditions.
